Why March?
In April 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision in Louisiana v. Callais, significantly weakening Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, one of the most important federal protections against racial discrimination in voting and redistricting.
The impact is already being felt across the South, where Black political representation, fair maps, and ballot access are under renewed threat. 1,000 Miles to Memphis is a direct response to that emergency.
The march ends in Memphis because Memphis is not just symbolic. It is one of the Blackest major cities in America, a city central to the civil rights movement, and a place where the fight for representation, labor dignity, and democratic power continues today.
We are walking to bear witness, protect voting rights, and remind people that they do not walk alone.
